Over at a Jazz Noise, you can read my answers to Dave Foxall’s 7 Questions such as my take on collaboration or what I seek in collaborators; what and who I’ve been listening to; what I’ve got planned; my take on the late-capitalist bootleg economy; and about my non-musical influences. Plus you can hear an exclusive track from Sirene 1009!

Muffled junkyard hammering (clangs! thud! snaps!) beat unlikely counter-rhythms; a suspension bridge rumbles in the turbulence with subwoofer scratches; bad traffic and extreme weather conspire elemental percussion; a broken public address system splutters and loops, evoking the intelligible.
Eponymous first album by Sirene 1009. Sirene 1009 is the cyborg virtuosity of Han-earl Park, the indomitable low-end growl of Dominic Lash, the unstoppable hits and clangs of Mark Sanders, and the controlled vocal mayhem of Caroline Pugh.

“Impressive in scale”? “overwhelming in execution”? “listening to two separate pieces at the same time in serendipitous juxtaposition”? “genius charlatan”? listening that “can produce altered states”? Dave Foxall of a Jazz Noise reviews ‘Anomic Aphasia’ (SLAMCD 559) by Han-earl Park, Catherine Sikora, Nick Didkovsky and Josh Sinton: Monopod is a sprawling, non-idiomatic (and non-repetitive) improvisation […]
